Little Giant is seeking a Senior Architect to join our studio. Our ideal candidate has experience in highly detailed residential design with a proven track record in single-family projects (multi-family experience is considered an asset). Commercial experience, including hospitality design (restaurants & hotels) is an asset. As a Senior Architect, you will be required to lead the project team and manage projects through all phases of the design and construction process. In addition to actively generating project deliverables alongside the project team, key responsibilities include Quality Assurance, Monitoring and Mentoring and execution of the Client-Architect Agreement. We are looking for you to work collaboratively across offices in Calgary and Victoria while mentoring and supporting junior staff.

STUDIO

· Active and ongoing support of studio architecture and interiors team with project and administrative tasks.

· Assists with developing continuing education opportunities (site visits, lectures, etc.) to educate and inspire design team.

· Contribute to office design reviews and critiques.

· Support implementation of innovative technologies, processes and practices that position the company as a leader in the field.

· Able to build long term, ongoing relationships with clients that lead to repeat business.

PROJECT

· Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch-up, Enscape, and Adobe Creative Suite.

· Has strong design sensibilities and acumen and adept at creating and developing conceptual ideas.

· Has a thorough understanding of the industry-standard, contractual obligations of the Architect (Prime Consultant) and can successfully develop and deliver all project requirements from Schematic Design through Closeout phases.

· Extremely well-versed in local bylaw and planning processes (Development Permit, community engagement, etc.) and ensures their integration into design.

· Displays a high level of creativity and innovation with a strong understanding of practical requirements of the building industry and applicable Building & Energy codes.

· Lead and develop schematic design concepts using variety of tools (3D, CAD drawings, hand drawings, physical models) and prepare client presentations.

· Understanding of wood frame and timber construction methods and detailing.

· Leads and manages projects (workplan, invoicing, resourcing) with minimal support from the Director of Architecture and maintains the schedule throughout the project.

· Maintains the primary client contact for the duration of the project.

· Lead external coordination meetings and assigns tasks to external project team members to achieve project objectives and schedule.

· Lead consultant coordination on several low, medium and high complexity projects.

· Leads and takes part in the completion of construction documents for the project.

· Leads contract administration and coordination with internal and external project team.

· Capable of leading and/or contributing efficiently on a variety of projects simultaneously.

· Understanding of project fee and scope of work and tracks costs effectively.

· Meeting monthly billing targets for yourself and helping to monitor your project teams.

· Attend site reviews during construction and produce construction admin documentation.

· Manage project team to achieve project objectives and schedule.

· Supports Directors / Partners with work planning, resourcing, billing.

· Proficient technical and management abilities.

· Client satisfaction and development of ongoing relationship.

EXPERIENCE

· 10+ years of relevant experience (preferred).

· Professional certification (AIBC, AAA) considered an asset.

· LEED certification considered an asset.
