Little Giant is seeking an intermediate Interior Designer to join our Victoria or Calgary studio. Our ideal candidate has experience in hospitality design (restaurants & hotels) and single-family residential with a proven track record (multi-family experience is considered an asset). As an intermediate Designer, you will be required to lead the design and delivery of small-scale interior projects and assist the senior team on large-scale projects through all phases of the design and construction process. We are looking for you to work collaboratively across offices while mentoring and supporting junior staff.

STUDIO

· Foster an environment of mutual respect and passion for design among team members.

· Facilitates collaboration; engages ideas and input of others.

· Ambassador and teacher of Little Giant’s processes, values, and goals

· Active and ongoing mentoring of studio team.

· Initiate and support office design reviews and critiques.

· Support and lead implementation of innovative technologies, processes and practices and employee development solutions that position the company as a leader in the field.

· Act as a subject matter expert in at least one of Little Giant’s sectors of practice, by keeping current with emerging trends and market shifts in order to recommend and implement best practices.

· Able to build long term, ongoing relationships with clients that lead to repeat business.

PROJECT

· Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch-up, Enscape and AutoCAD. Revit is considered an asset.

· Has strong design sensibilities and acumen and adept at creating and developing conceptual ideas.

· Displays a high level of creativity and innovation with a strong understanding of practical requirements of the building industry.

· Leads the preparation and presentation, with internal collaboration, of the complete pre-design and schematic design phases for small-scale projects and supports senior lead for large-scale projects Sets the project schedule and maintains the schedule throughout the project.

· Establishes and maintains the primary client contact, for small-scale projects or a portion of a large-scale projects, for the duration of the project Leads project team members in order to achieve project objectives and schedule.

· Leads external coordination meetings and assigns tasks to external project team members to achieve project objectives and schedule.

· Leads the completion of a small-scale set of construction drawings and contributes to large-scale construction drawings. Leads contract administration and coordination with internal and external project team.

· Leads contract administration and coordination with internal and external project team for small-scale projects and supports on large-scale projects.

· Is fully conversant Little Giant’s processes throughout the project.

· Strong understanding of project fee and scope of work and tracks costs effectively.

· Is capable of leading and supporting on a variety of projects simultaneously

· Meeting monthly billing targets for yourself and your project teams.

· Good understanding of the Building Codes applicable to projects in their respective jurisdictions

· Strong material and product sourcing skills.

EXPERIENCE

· 5 + years of post-graduate experience in an Interior Design/Architecture office in commercial, retail and/or multi-unit residential projects with a developing understanding of at least one of these sectors

· Working towards NCIDQ certification

· Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree from a CIDA accredited Interior Design program.
